“I sat with my anger long enough until she told me her real name was grief.”
C.S. Lewis
Understanding Grief
Grief is a natural response to loss, encompassing a wide range of powerful emotions such as sorrow, guilt, anger, regret, and emptiness. These feelings can often feel overwhelming, clouding our thoughts and leading to despair as we navigate the profound changes that loss brings.
While some may suggest that it is best to suppress these intense emotions and simply "move on," this approach is often not beneficial in the long run. Instead, embracing the full spectrum of grief—no matter how difficult—allows us to honour our feelings and ultimately facilitates healing for ourselves and our loved ones.
By keeping our hearts open to the experience of grief, we invite the possibility of transformation. Yearning for relief from the heaviness of loss does not diminish the significance of our sorrow; rather, it paves the way for hope and renewal. Grief can be a catalyst for change, guiding us toward a deeper understanding of ourselves and our connections with others.
In this journey, it is important to remember that you are not alone. There is support if you are feeling overwhelmed with your grief.
